Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
This policy explains what TierBid (the "Service", "we", "us") collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the public board and to signed-in owner accounts.
1. What we collect
Account data (from Google sign-in). When you sign in we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password. You can change your name and picture in Settings.
Company data you submit. Company name, website URL, description, logo, and the bids you place. Together with your company's tier, rank, standing bid, time on the board and move history, this is public — see Section 4.
Payment data. Payments are handled by our payment provider. We receive a confirmation, the amount, and a provider reference. We do not store full card numbers.
Usage data on the board. To show owners how their listing performs and to show visitors how busy the board is, we count:
- board page loads and daily visitors;
- impressions (a listing was shown on a page you loaded) and outbound clicks (you clicked through to a company's site);
- presence — whether a browser has the board open right now.
To do this we store a random identifier in your browser's local storage. It is not tied to your name or email, and it is not shared with anyone. Signed-out visitors are counted only in this anonymous way.
Notifications and feedback. In-app notifications about your bids and positions, and any feedback you send us through the dashboard.
Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested) kept for security and debugging.
2. What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not run third-party advertising or ad trackers on the Service.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
3. Why we use it (and our legal bases)
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Run your account and the board | Account, company, bids | Performance of a contract |
| Take payments and keep records | Payment data | Contract; legal obligation |
| Show traffic stats to owners and visitors | Anonymous usage data | Legitimate interests |
| Send you notifications about your listings | Account, bids | Contract |
| Answer feedback and support requests | Feedback, account | Legitimate interests |
| Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse | Technical data, usage data | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with law | Any of the above | Legal obligation |
We do not use your data for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
4. What is public
The board is public by design. Anyone can see, for each listed company: its name, logo, website, description, tier, rank, standing bid amount, how long it has held its spot, impression and click counts, and its history of moves. The public activity feed shows recent entries, climbs, demotions and price changes by company name.
Your personal account details (email address, Google profile) are not shown publicly. Your name is not attached to your companies on the public board.
5. Who we share data with
- Service providers who host and run the Service for us: our hosting and database provider, our file storage provider (for uploaded logos and profile pictures), our payment provider, and our email provider. They process data only on our instructions.
- Google, when you sign in, and Google's public favicon service when we display a company's favicon as a placeholder logo.
- Authorities, if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of the Service or others.
- A successor, if the Service is sold or merged; we will tell you before your data is transferred under a different policy.
We do not share data with data brokers or advertisers.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We use browser local storage for: the anonymous visitor identifier described above, whether you have already been counted as a visitor today, and interface preferences (such as whether your sidebar is collapsed). Clearing your browser storage removes these. We do not use advertising cookies.
7. Retention
- Account and company data: for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your companies are removed from the board and your account record is deleted. Bid, payment and activity records may be retained for up to 7 years where needed for accounting, tax or dispute purposes, with the link to your identity removed where practical.
- Anonymous usage data: kept in daily aggregate form indefinitely. Presence records are discarded within minutes of a browser closing the board.
- Server logs: typically 30 days.
- Feedback: until resolved and for a reasonable period afterwards.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. You can:
- See and edit your name and picture in Settings, and your companies in Listings.
- Delete your account and companies yourself from Settings → Delete account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or anything else, via the Feedback button in your dashboard. We will respond within 30 days.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
9. International transfers
Our providers may store or process data outside the country you live in, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for those transfers.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and hosted providers with their own security programmes. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as required by law.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
